Dear Parents & Guardians,
Please find below a list of recent and upcoming events.
New Child Protection Guidelines: The school has recently drafted new Child Safeguarding and Risk Assessment statements in line with the new child protection guidelines. These have been in effect since March 11th. A copy of both of the above are available on our school’s website and are on display inside the main entrance to the school. All school personnel also completed the TUSLA on-line child protection training course.
Tin Whistle Lessons: Tin whistle lessons will finish for this year before Easter. I would like to thank Yvonne for all her hard work with the children.
Swimming Lessons: As we missed a swimming lesson due to the weather this will be made up on Tuesday 20th March. Our last lesson is on the following day Wednesday 21st March. Thanks to all the parents who helped to supervise. The children made great progress this year.
Seachtain na nGaeilge: The school recently celebrated Seachtain na nGaeilge and we had a lovely ceolchoirm on the Thursday where the children sang Irish songs, recited Irish poetry, played traditional Irish music and performed Irish dancing. Our language and our culture are very important to us here in the school and it is great to see the children enthusiastic about both.
First Penance: Congratulations to our 2nd class boys and girls on making their first penance on Tuesday 13th March. Thanks to Fr. Joe for the ceremony and particularly to Ms. Cusack for preparing the children so well. Thanks also to the choir who sang and played beautifully for the ceremony.
Reminder – First Holy Communion is on 26th May.
Clothes Collection: Thanks to all the parents who contributed to our recent clothes collection. Once again there was a great response.
Teaching Practice Student: Well done to Shelley Finnerty on completing her teaching practice in the Infant room. Shelley is a past pupil of the school and it is always nice to be able to assist pupils in their future careers. Shelley will be a very welcome addition to the teaching profession.
Religious Inspection: Sr. Breda Coyne visited the school on Friday 16th March to talk to the children about the various religious programmes in the school. Sr. Breda was very impressed with the children.
School Closures: School closing on Friday 23rd March for Easter holidays at 12:30pm. and will re-open on Monday 9th April. Busses will run as normal.
School will be closed on Thursday 31st May for New Language Curriculum In-service.
If you have any queries in relation to any of the above, please do not hesitate to contact me.
