Read MoreOctober saw the children learn all about their school environment. They learned the names of all the areas within and outside the school and associated activities with these areas. They learned the names of all the staff that work in the school and what their various roles were . They went on a material hunt around the school and discovered all the various materials that were used to build the different parts of the school . In the socio dramatic area, a classroom and secretary’s office were set up and children took turns pretending to be the secretary, answering the phone , making appointments for the principal , or being the teacher and students in the class. In construction area the children built their perfect school and their definitely was some interesting buildings . In the malleable area, the children made objects they use in school and as it was Halloween they also created some Halloween characters ! All children were busy using their estimation skills trying to guess how many sweets were in the jars- Eabha Smyth in 1st class and Daniel Kelly , 4th class being the lucky winners!! The school yard was a hive of activity with children carrying out their maths trails and discovering maths in the school environment. Lego maths was enjoyed by 1st & 2nd class.
